Bridge parapet with beam
Vertical posts in “CORTEN®” S355J0WP or galvanized S355JR steel, “C” section 120x60x25 mm, 5 mm thick and 1200 mm long, with base plate and reinforcing gussets welded to the base; a reinforcement block 105×45 mm, 4 mm thick and 250 mm long is placed inside the “C”. The posts are spaced 2000 mm apart and anchored to the support with threaded bars Ø16×220 mm and two-component resin. Spacers — “CORTEN®” S355J0WP or galvanized S355JR steel, “C” section 120x60x25 mm, 5 mm thick — are fixed to the posts, to which the triple-wave horizontal rails in “CORTEN®” S355J0WP or galvanized S355JR steel, 4318×502 mm, 2.5 mm thick, are fixed. An omega-profile rail 145×52(54) mm, 4 mm thick and 4318 mm long is fixed to the top of the posts. The horizontal bands are completed with solid-wood strips 60×50 mm and 1990 mm long partially covering the rails, suitably shaped and impregnated in line. The central band of the base rail is coated with a dedicated white reflective paint. The barrier can be upgraded by removing the wood cladding “kit”, redefining the device into a barrier of the same certified class. The steel components are joined by high-strength round-head and hexagonal-head bolts: Cl. 8.8 M10x30 (Spacer–Post); Cl. 8.8 M16x40 (Rail–Spacer; upper “omega” rail–Post) with an added slot-cover plate, and M16x30 (Rail–Rail; upper “omega” rail–upper “omega” rail); nuts and washers. The strips are fixed to the rails with round-head bolts Cl. 4.8 M16x60; nuts and washers.
