Bridge parapet
Vertical posts in “CORTEN®” S355J0WP or galvanized S355JR steel, “C” section 120x80x25 mm, 4 mm thick and 675 mm long, with base plate and reinforcing gussets welded to the base. The posts are spaced 2000 mm apart and anchored to the support with threaded bars Ø18×250 mm and two-component resin. A horizontal double-wave rail in “CORTEN®” S355J0WP or galvanized S355JR steel, 4318×310 mm, 2.5 mm thick, is fixed to the posts. The horizontal band is completed with wood cladding of the rail, made of half-poles Ø160 mm and 1990 mm long, suitably shaped and autoclave-treated. The barrier can be upgraded by removing the wood cladding “kit”, redefining the device into a barrier of the same certified class. The steel components are joined by high-strength round-head bolts Cl. 8.8 M16x40 (Rail–Post, with an added slot-cover plate), and M16x30 (Rail–Rail); nuts and washers. The half-poles are fixed to the rail with round-head bolts Cl. 4.8 M16x80; nuts and washers.
